![]() ![]() But the flipper angles are just off and inconsistent. No amount of bells and whistles will make the vp physics engine actually be more fun. We played some two player pinball fx then he checked out scarface. Pdxmonkey was just over last night and commented on this the same. Unfortunately, this is due to the physics engine of vp vs pbfx. Would it be the same hell no! It is not just the one thing they did that makes it cool it is the combination of all the things that make it fun. No they could just sit you in front a 15” laptop and watch the show. Sure you can play without all this but pinball people play mine and others that have great VP setups will say I need to make one of those that was fun.ĭo they need to raise you 40’ in the air to watch a movie?ĭo they need to blow a fan in your face so you can feel the wind?ĭo they need spray pine and orange smells?ĭo they need to shake your seat during the fireworks? Flashers show a great likes show and real feedback you can feel just like a real pin when popup bumpers hit the ball. The wiper motor runs when the target bank goes up and down. Even Mark says people play his and they only enjoy FX2 on his cab.īut people that have put the extra effort in setting up VP with full ROM controlled feedback reallyĪFM the shaker goes off when you kit the ship. You and play VP in a dedicated cab with no feedback and flasher but most people will say that it is ok. It is so much better playing virtual pinball in a real pinball cab. You can build dedicated cab with no flipper lag. If everybody could get on the same page (a good page) with physics, I think there would be more universal appeal, especially to real pinheads. A lot of table makers don't do the best physics, & it isn't really accepted to speak your mind too freely about such things as you don't want to hurt feelings. If I couldn't play VP on my desktop like I do, then I'd more seriously consider a cab, but for now its just not enough bang for my buck.Īlso, these days I can pretty much only enjoy tables that I tweak physics to my liking. Maybe one day if the tech gets better, & I have the room & cash that for some reason I don't want to spend on a real pinball. For some reason I only see a flat 2D image on a cabinet that looks funky, though apparently other people claim they can get the illusion of depth. For me VP just makes more sense to be used in this way, & I think the views of the tables look much more realistic in the regular desktop mode. The other thing is that I can play VP on my nice desktop for free, & I get better performance & can play at higher resolutions than people using cabs. ![]() I just can't bare not putting that much $$ toward real pinball. Its just one of those things that I would like to have if I had spare space & they didn't cost so much to have a nice one. & in that time I've worked on a bunch of tables as well.īut I could never get into the cabinets. I've been working with VP/VPM since the earlier days when most tables were made out of flyer images. In fact a girl that never plays pinball got 2.5billion on AFM and she loved it. I had a game night last night with about 30-40 people over here and the VP got lots of play, even next to real machines. It is coming along nicely, and I am very pleased with the results so far. I am glad I have all those extra buttons as well, because F3 on the keyboard is used to reset the tables ROM just in case any problems arise. I especially like the fact that I can change the color of each tables DMD and it will save that option for each table individually. The more I play around with it and tweek all the settings the more I like it. ![]() ![]() I cut some holes in the side and nicely sealed them with some Lexan plexiglass so you can see all the working hardware inside:Īnd I did the same on the existing holes where the old shooter rod and old start button were on the front, they are sealed with Lexan Plexiglass as well:Īll I have left to do is put a border between TV screen and glass, and then hook up all the buttons and the motion sensor for nudging: Well on mine I really liked the look of all the LEDs on the gaming computer and the cooling fans I added to the cabinet, so. ![]()
